Re: gazemon Process with 100 % CPU

gazemon Process with 100 % CPU

All,

I have a new HP server RX7640 and it is with 100 % of CPU Load and the top process is gazemon .

Does anybody know about that ?

The server isn´t in production yet .

Is it better I open a case on HP support ?

Re: gazemon Process with 100 % CPU

I'm not familiar with a process called gazemon. I would normally start by looking in /sbin/init.d to see if there is a startup script that sounds similar, like *gaze*. I would also look in /opt for sub-directory structures called *gaze*. If you can find one of those two things, you might be able to track down just what this process is and thus, what you need to do about it.

A quick Googling provided this answer:
http://docs.hp.com/en/diag/ems/emd_gazemon.htm

If you don't have a DS2500 enclosure connected to your server, you can disable the gazemon process.

You might want to open a case to HP support whether you have a DS2500 or not: the gazemon should definitely not behave like that in any situation.

Re: gazemon Process with 100 % CPU

Do you have the DS2500?

Could you please get an "ioscan -fn" and the output of stm's info tool?

This may not be related to the problem, but interesting.

Hope this helps!

Re: gazemon Process with 100 % CPU

You can run
/etc/opt/resmon/lbin/monconfig
and select "c" for check and see if you can find the monitor there.
I know there is software for hp-ux for your device, but I don't know if you need it.

If you don't have a DS2500 (this is a HP disk system), the monitor does not need to run.

Hope this helps!

Re: gazemon Process with 100 % CPU

Hi Alexandre,
Gazemon is the EMS HW monitor for DS2500 devices. If you don't have a DS2500, it shouldn't be running, however there is a known problem that sometimes causes it to do so.

If the following file exists, try removing it:
/var/stm/data/tools/monitor/gazemon.hwa

Which version of the OnlineDiags do you currently have installed? (If you run 'cstm', that will give you the STM version string.) The problem should be fixed in the current version.

If you have the current or previous version (C.56.00 or C.58.00) installed, and removing the file does not fix the problem, yes, please, open a support call with HP.
