gethostid() in kernel?
Hi there,
Is there a (either documented or not) way to get the host ID in kernel (i.e. in driver)?
Thanks,

Re: gethostid() in kernel?
Hi,
http://devrsrc1.external.hp.com/STK/impacts/i397.html
Some news about the gethostid call itself - it has been designated deprecated by the X/Open organization.
- ramd.

Re: gethostid() in kernel?
Thanks...
Not exactly the answer I was looking for, but anyway.
Let's put it like this:
Is there a way to get unique (whatever the scope is) host identifier in kernel (i.e. in driver)? In the early days (9000/715) HP stations used to have a chip with the ID on board. What is used these days?
Thanks again,
