gnome / abiword & gnumeric

I was recommended I use gnome for viewing MS Office's doc and xls files. However, I later noticed that gnome will replace my CDE environment, which I do not want to do. I suppose installing just the gnome libraries (B6848BA) alone would not help. I guess I would need to install both B6848BA and B6852BA (desktop environment) to be able to view the doc and xls files.
Therefore I would like to install the viewers of doc and xls files only - if that is possible (without the desktop). Are Abiword and Gnumeric available in separate packages (binaries for HP-UX 11.00) too or only in the gnome package?
