Golden Image Error

Hi All,

I have created the golden image on rp4440 server and tested on rp3410 and 4440 server without any problem.

My problem is i transfer the image from hp rp4440 server to the windows xp Laptop using ftp.

For some reason when i copy the same image back from laptop to hp server and try to install it give the following error.

Tried using winscp method also same problem.

file name is rp4440_base.gz

Method of creation :make_sys_image

file type :gzip tar (dafeualt method.

Make to switch to "bin" mode in ftp, not ascii.

HI ,

I had the backed up image in the server itsef at /backup dir.

When i place the image which is already in the server runs without any issue.

The problem arises only after ftp process from server to laptop and back to server.

When it says "Permission denied" you should check the permissions on this file and on your exports.

Hi Ganesh,
Why do you want to transfer image to windows machine ?
This has to be created on ignite server and you should add seperate entry for golden image install in INDEX file which makes golen image config simple.
also check for the permission and ownership for
cat: Cannot open /tmp/ign_configure/archive_nfs/rp4440_base.gz: Permission denied

HI,

1.When i renmae the image which gives error and move the image which is backed up in unix machine it runs without any permisssion error .So it is not an nfs poblem.


2.The reason for moving the image to windows is we are planning to depoloy this image at another site.So thru ftp we move this image to another site.

Hi Ganesh ,
Plese try to create golden imapcts when you move back your image from windows machine to HP .

#/opt/ignite/lbin/archive_impact -t -g \
/var/opt/ignite/archives/Rel_B.11.23/.gz

and check for any progress

well if you have network connectivity between site A and B you can still use golden image on ignite server st site A for installation , just boot the system from boothelper at site B and provide ignite server name as site A ignite server

It is not possible to deploy the image between sites using boot helper.

Kindly requesting for some other solutions.

You should check your ignite/NFS config again.

I would expect a NFS or other config problem here, based on this:

Placed the Golden image in tar format and copeied to windows using ftp and transfered it back.

Works fine after extraxting the tar and palcing the gzipped image in NFs Share directory.
