GSP LAN port heartbeat

Somebody asked me if the GSP LAN port on an L-Class cluster could be used for ServiceGuard heartbeat. It doesn't seem likely to me that this would be supported by HP. Nevertheless, does anybody know for sure?

To my mind you would be checking the pulse in the wrong place as GSP runs under the OS and the OS could have died but GSP be still alive.

Hi,

It seems like you wouldn't be able to use it for the reasons that Paula mentioned. Now, we have used the built-in LAN port on L-class boxes for the heartbeat; it works just fine. The GSP LAN port is for LAN access to the GSP. I don't see how you could access it from the HP server.

Thanks for the responses Paula and John, that's what I thought.
