gtar and tar differences

HI,

Could anyone point out the key differences between gtar and tar in terms of their features and performances?

I have tried searching for their differences over the web but to no avail.

I was wondering if anyone could provide a URL which contains such information, or do have documentations outlining such differences to share?

Thanks

One thing what is familiar is that

tar -- does not support files above 2Gb
GNUtar--support files larger than 2GB.

Re: gtar and tar differences

Hi,

tar-1.13.25 GNU version of tar, a tape file archiver. Although tar is supplied
with HP-UX, gtar has more options and handles absolute paths as relative paths,
restores the original dates of directories when extracting and also supports
large file systems.
