Re: Gzip installtion

swinstall -s needs an absolute pathname, so you need to include the full path

tmp # swinstall -s /tmp/gzip.depot gzip

Re: Gzip installtion

add on to Merijn's answer, verify the depot file for corruption. You did a binary download/ftp ?

Re: Gzip installtion

If it is zipped or compressed un-zip it: uncompress /FULLPATH/gzip-1.3.5-sd-11.00.depot.Z

The command is like this:

swinstall -s /FULLPATH/gzip-1.3.5-sd-11.00.depot

Re: Gzip installtion

All,
Thanks for the response, I installed it and it worked good with full path. I was trying to install through GUI. My next question is where did it install , I already had a gzip version 1.2.4 on the system and when I do which gzip i am getting the older version. Does this gets installed in /usr/contrib/bin or somewhere else. Any ideas?.

Thanks all,
I found it installed in /usr/local/bin.
Thanks again.

Re: Gzip installtion

I don't know if you will ever see this but right now you probably have two versions of gzip on your system. Review the following link

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=574771

I recently installed gzip 1.3.5 and had to relocate it.
