had to shutdown -h do to flood...need answer asap

We are flooding and the power company is shutting us down in 15 minutes. I ran a shutdown -h and hit the power button. Should I just pull the plug now - power light is flashing...

And also turn off all Your breakers and UPS's, or You might see Your roof lifting.

Yes all power! If you have time, mark your disks and bring them to save place!

Well, and if there's a chance the flood will rise, You should take a (waterproof *g*) marker pen, put numbers on all disk drives and remove them, too.
Put them to another building if possible, or store them with Your companies bank.

Hi Richard,

Isolate your system now, unplug power ..

Richard,

I hope You managed ok and that the water stopped below Your critical infrastructure.

Re: had to shutdown -h do to flood...need answer asap

Florian,

Thanks for the email.

Our systems are located on the 5th floor of our building in Lawrence, MA; so there was no danger of the water reaching that level. However, our entire basement and half of our 1st floor is under water.

The Merrimack River is expected to crest tonight at 32 feet above normal; and we won't get power back until Wednesday.

I pulled my drives, had a complete backup tape, as well as a recovery tape.

Thanks for the quick response from everyone, and I'll repoen the thread on Wednesday with an update.

Thanks again!!!

Richard
