Having CDE environment in Window 200 NT
Currently i have some problem to get a GUI environment of HP-UX 10 to my Window 2000 NT using HummingBird (Exceed V9.0).
I manage to have the login screen and i have key in the username and also the password but when click OK. On the HP-UX the screen show Starting CDE.....with all the description of the agreement.. So i wait and wait but it will prompt out the login screen again for me to key in the username and password. Can i know why this will happen? Is it i need to have some basic setting on the server?
Hope i can get the respond soon

Re: Having CDE environment in Window 200 NT
Check whether there is DISPLAY variable in the environment. Unset this definition and try to relogin.

Re: Having CDE environment in Window 200 NT
The thing is this, when tried to access server from different machine remotely in GUI way, first it might be normal to take some time, but when it prompst again for the username and password something went wrong.
You can start checking connectivity first with ping.
Then you can check remote access to the server, like telnet as recommended before.
If all is fine, then it means that the server knew about the connection failed, then check the logs to see if it says why it failed.
Make sure you can open your CDE locally, if it works locally, and the above works fine too, then the remote login in GUI should work too.
Regards,
Jaime.

Re: Having CDE environment in Window 200 NT
If you are connecting, i doubt it is a network problem. More likely a permissions problem or misconfiguration in one of the .dt folders, .dtprofile et al.
/var/adm/syslog/syslog.log can provide you good clues as to the actual problem.
