if you are thinking about the number you get via uname -i , only the HP engineer can change that with ss_config.

if you want to change the hostname (uname -n)
edit the /etc/rc.config.d/netconf file.

The hostid is usually linked to the mac address on the mainboard of the server.
The hostids should be unique and therefore HP can only set them. Especially since software licenses are linked to them.
Some hardware vendors have put the hostid onto a chipcard that you can move into another server, so you can install you software (or even the complete harddisk) into the new server chassis. And repair the other one...
I am not aware of HP servers doing this. :-(
