How can i know if PA-RISC low-end server is dual-core mahcine?

Hi,

Without using SAM(system properties), Is there any command or tool to find out the cpu type(dual-core) in PA-RISC low-end servers?
I know PA-RISC Naming convensionl. ex)rp3440 means that this server is PA8800. So rp3440 is dual-core cpu.

Thank you in advance

The PA8800 and PA8900 are always dual core CPUs.

Anyway, some entry models (e.g. rp3410) were also sold with one core disabled, so even the PA8800 has only 1 working core (and 1 CPU at all). In this case you need a license in order to enable the second.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Hi,

when you know that you have one cpu only, with 'top' you'll see both cores.

A better way to look at it is to treat each core as a CPU. (Of course hyperthreads are a different thing.)

>Dennis - yeah, but he want to know/see if it's dual core, that's the way i 'can' see it.

BTW also in 'vmstat -n' i'll see both cores.

Re: How can i know if PA-RISC low-end server is dual-core mahcine?

@SEP - sorry but:
Everything *PA-RISC* sold now until the end of the year new is PA-RISC.
And I think you mean: every new PA-RISC sold now is a PA-8800 or PA8900, as we know from here:
http://h20338.www2.hp.com/hpux11i/downloads/public_hp-ux_systems_support.pdf
and so a dual-core as also mentioned here:
http://www.openpa.net/systems/#rack
at the bottom.
