How can I utilize Cisco 5300 modem pool with HP-UX 11 "cu" ?

I have an HP-UX 11.0 paging application called Hiplink which uses a standard "cu" process to dial into various service providers to deliver pages. I would like to be able to utilize a modem pool on our customer's Cisco 5300 instead of the modems directly connected to the HP server's MUX for this purpose.

I don't know anything about the Cisco 5300 modem pool, so I thought I'd put the question out here on the forum and ask for help.

Any ideas, anyone?

If your tty is instance 0
and is 8 port you'll get device files such
as the following:
tty0p0 ..... tty0p7
then whichever one is connected to the device,
say port 3 issue a
cu -l tty0p3

you may have to enter the tty0p3 in /etc/uucp/Devices to configure it as a dial in modem (just follow the syntax of the last line) and enter in the getty in the /etc/inittab
Then init q to reread the inittab.

Thanks for the reply. However, I am 100% knowledgable about how to get modems and "cu" working with regular ports on HP muxes.

My question is how to address port that are not connected to the HP server, but connected to a Cisco 5300 modem pool over the network?

Cisco's web site didn't help much, that's why I turned to this forum. I've had great results with other issues here, but I realize this issue isn't strictly HP-UX.

I appreciate your feedback.
