How come I cannot telnet but I can rlogin?

When I run telnet,I received error message as below,
Trying xx.xx.xx.xx
Connected to myhostname
telnetd: /dev/pts/ta: No such file or directory.
.
Connection closed by foreign host.

But I can use rlogin from Solaris machine to HP-UX machine, Anybody got an idea?

Thanks,

Hello,
Just try giving a
#insf -e
to re-install device files.

Yes, insf -e does work!

Thank you very much.

The insf -e command will work - but its only a temporary fix. Has the same problem here. Only way to fix it permanently is to install patches (listed in another reply - we just installed the latest Jun2001 GR patch bundle and that fixed it).
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...
