How create license to protect software

Hi,

I'm working for a company that produce software based on HP-UX systems.
We sell our software as depot/bundle on a CD/DVD and our customers can install and remove the software with the standard SD tools (swinstall/swremove).
Is there some HP products or some instructions to sell the CD with a license like HP codeword?
Is the codeword used only to protect HP product or can be used also to protect our software based on HP-UX systems?

Thanks in advance

I think the best thing is to invest in some license management software, like FLEXlm, that works very well.

Yep,

FLEXlm, LUM and MEls are the licence software I've to run for CAD.

I don't know exactly, but I think HP codeword is only to protect installation, but not for running on several ws later (for example after nfs mount).

So to protect the execution of a program, the software above controls the number of current running applications on different ws.

Thanks,

We already use FLEXlm to protect the programs execution, but at this stage I need something to protect the depot installation, then something like HP codeword

Re: How create license to protect software

If you have run-time licensing, why would you care if someone installs it? Presumably they couldn't run it and then would call you for Tech Support. You then politely explain the licensing and offer them a deal or allow a trial period. Most UNIX software makes its money on support.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
