How do I find the product number of my system.
10.01
10.20
11.0
The one thread on here I found did not work for me.
It would be nice also to know how to get the product numbers for any piece of hardware since the HP 800 numbers is asking for this all the time now (but they cant tell us how to find it).
I have searched google endlessly with no luck. No, the systems are not at my location. Please help.
THanks

Re: How do I find the product number of my system.
Run stm as root, after that press SPACE on the line which says "system", which will select the item after that press TAB to go to the Menu, select Tools, select Information and after that select Run, this will fire up a procedure which will return you the system serial number and the product number. Regards.

Re: How do I find the product number of my system.
# echo "sel dev 1;info;wait;il"|grep -i "current product"
works fine for servers. You can also find the serial number in that way.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: How do I find the product number of my system.
for the d k and n class just type model at the command line.
#model
this will return something like
800/821/D350
D350 is the server model

Re: How do I find the product number of my system.
You could also try checking PartSurfer:
http://partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/main
Enter your server and it will return the model number, like this:
D350 - A3334A, A3335A, A3335AR, A3344A, A3344AR, Z7640A
So, the model number is going to be one of those.

Re: How do I find the product number of my system.
9000 Server - K210 : A3224A, A3281A, A3281AR, A3282A, A3282AR, Z7636A
Thats still a ways off from a single answer.
Why is this so hard?

Isn't the product number written on a sticker somewhere on the systems?

And the people at these remote locations can barely handle flipping the ON switch.

Re: How do I find the product number of my system.
With STM you should see the Product-Number.
Check if you have the latest version of STM.
try the following:
# cstm
cstm> map
cstm> sel dev 1;info
cstm> il

Re: How do I find the product number of my system.
echo "selclass qualifier cpu;info;wait;infolog" | /usr/sbin/cstm
Unfortunately, product numbers are different than model numbers and are primarily used for marketing. The above command will all the available information from CPU revisions to processor revisions.
It's important to keep an inventory if what you have, as painful as it may be to collect. HP service (primarily hardware support) will need product numbers as these are tied to contracts. Software support is easier since pruduct numbers are seldom used to describe a problem. Usually just a model or even just a series or class (like K-class or D-class) is needed for software support. Note also that hardware support will always request the serial number which is definitely not available for 10.01 and 10.20 systems. Serial numbers that are readable from HP-UX are only available on the newer models (which can't run anything prior to 11.00).
What you may need is to get a digital camera (with closeup capability) to each of the button pushers. It would be nice if all the systems had the product/serial-number nameplate in the same place (like next to the power cord). So for some of the models, you'll need to get a front and back picture, then ID the series and then look in the User manual (they're online at docs.hp.com) to find the location. For instance, some A-series computers have a pullout card with the information while K-class boxes have it behind the front door.
