how do I install a PCI SCSI interface card & tape drive in Itanium

Dumb new guy here. I plan on removing a SCSI pci card (not being used) from an HP-9000 system and installing it into a Itanium rx-6600 system and connect a couple of DLT tape drives to it.

What is involved in configuring the Itanium for the SCSI card and the drives? HELP!

Shalom,

Seem pretty smart to me asking the right question in the right place.

1) Only use approved cards. http://partsurfer.hp.com If the card in the 9000 system is not certified stop right there.

2) Wherever you get the card, you look up the docs in http://docs.hp.com find an approved slot. Shut the system down, open it up install the card, restart. You should see it on ioscan and then connecting the tape drive can be done while the system is running.

Hi Gregory,

You may also need to add the appropriate drivers into the kernel if you have not had tape drives on the rx6600 before.

Use kcweb to add the driver if necessary, if my memory serves me correctly it is the 'stape' driver you need to add.
