How do I set an account to never expire on a non-trusted system

I need to know how to set an account to never expire on a non-trusted server. We use /etc/shadow.

-y is not an option for the passwd command.

Hi

passwd -x 0 username

then usernames account never expire.

-x 0 will do it on HP-UX
