How do you temporarily disable processors

We have a 4 processor HP machine and are wanting to temporarity disable 2 of the processors to run some tests. Can this be done? Or can you just removed them and put them back and the OS will be ok? Is this even a good idea? If it isn't a good idea then we won't do it but just curious if it is possible. Thanks.

Re: How do you temporarily disable processors

It will require a reboot, but there are two ways:
1> from BCH (interupted boot process prompt)
SER to senter the service menu
CPU to deallocate cpus based on cpu number
# on/off
2> MSTM/Support Plus
