How many IPs are required to Configure Network failover between two physical ports ?

We have to configure production network failover. So can anyone tell us that how many IPs are required to configure N/W ports failover ? and how to configure two ports network failover in HP-UX 11.x ?

You need 1 IP address... you basically combine the multiple network ports (say lan0, lan1) into one virtual port (lan900).

To do this you need Auto-Port Aggregation. Depedning on what you have purchased you may or may not have this product. Manuals are here:

It depends.

If you are configuring Serviceguard your network failover is built into the software if another lan card is available.

The APA option above is used to make multiple lan cards work together. I think Linux calls it teaming cards.

It worked for me that i need 1 IP for Failover configuration.
