are you talking about adding users to Unix, or to Maestro (or maybe both)?

Also, googling Maestro software returns a bunch of hits about different software, from NASA to music....which one are you referring to?

Re: How to add users, and assign permissions for Maestro Software.

You need to call the IBM support center. Tivoli Maestro is an IBM product.

call 800-426-7378 or

As a side note, you do realize that OS is out of support...which may also be the case for the hardware its running on

Re: How to add users, and assign permissions for Maestro Software.

Old School: Maestro is a job scheduler exactly like cron except it has a way of firing up job for executing when certain conditions are meet.

The users that he is referring too are going to be 'maestro' and another one or two. These are admin users of the application.

And it gets complicated from here on end because a script might be owned by root, it calls a netbackup script, all now having to be run by maestro.

It can be a pain. Especially the installation which has additional configuration steps on both clients and maester server.

Usually when things go wrong in the middle of the night, its a maestro user or permission problem, failing to execute someone elses backup.

Re: How to add users, and assign permissions for Maestro Software.

yeah...but there's also:

SQLMaestro (for a bunch of different DB's) which shows up as Maestro for ...

Maestro 6.1 from Hummingbird (which may be an NFS suite...old...like 11.0)

and others.

I'm not doubting that what you say is correct, I just contend that the OP may need to be a wee bit more specific in regards his request

Re: How to add users, and assign permissions for Maestro Software.

you can create the maestro use as a normal user on the server . but when you are installling any instance for a maestro server than you need to specify that username over there .

than only that user can use that instance. We are using a script for installing the maestro instances.
