How to boot on tape with hp-ux 11.23

Hi !

How can I boot with an Ignite tape on HP-UX 11.23.
The server is a rx7620 itanium.
I reboot the system, and interrupt for enter in ipl mode, I can't do a boot path for booting on tape.
Another I use a hp 700/96 console and the visualization of screen is bad.

look for a sequential device on the list, thats tape.

If the sequential device is P3


boot P3

N (do not ineract)

You are booting off tape.

Ignite will offer you an opportunity to get the Ignite Interface and make changes to the default recovery.

unfornutaly you CANNOT.

At present, 11.23 (AKA ITANIUM) can boot only from cdrom.

If you have a recovery tape, you boot off from the cd, and then you use the tape for recovery.

I'd heard what Massimo reports.

This may be a PA-RISC only feature. To do this you may need to wait for 11i V3.

You may want to try it anyway though, it can't hurt anything.

Also, the response center should be able to provide you a procedure by which you can recover from the tape.

I would certainly be on the latest possible version of Ignite before trying this.

Currently you cannot boot from tape on Itanium systems, the efi environment does not have a driver for the sequential device. You can do a two step recovery using CD and tape as described at:
