how to change filesystem's sizes
Hi,All
There is a problem I encountered when I want to increase filesystems such as
/var ,the system said it couldn't do, I did as follows:
#lvextend -L 1024 /dev/vg00/lvol8
#fsadm -F vxfs -b 1048576 /var
system messages: fsadm -b option need HP OnlineJFS ( Advanced vxfs )
But the server ( K380 hp_ux 11.0 ) has been installed with OnlineJFS and
MirrorDisk/UX, and I do ok under the single user environment, not use fsadm
command at last.
If you have good ideas on how to change filesytems's sizes with OnlineJFS or
MirrorDisk/UX software, you will be appreciated.
Yours,
Tony

Re: how to change filesystem's sizes
Hi,
You could reboot your server and interrupt its startup, type bo, when
prompted whether you want to interact with IPL respond with a Y
Type hpux -is
extendfs -F vxfs /dev/vg00/lvolx the x would be whatever your /var is equal to.

Re: how to change filesystem's sizes
I ran into this problem two weeks ago. The solution was patches from HP:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root sys 522240 Feb 9 13:32 PHCO_20882.depot
-rw-r--r-- 1 root sys 81920 Nov 20 1997 PHKL_13203.depot
-rw-r--r-- 1 root sys 30720 Jul 23 1998 PHKL_15940.depot
-rw-r--r-- 1 root sys 20377600 Jun 22 1999 PHKL_18543.depot
-rw-r--r-- 1 root sys 71680 Nov 9 14:24 PHKL_18623.depot
-rw-r--r-- 1 root sys 20377600 Nov 14 09:59 PHKL_19142.depot
-rw-r--r-- 1 root sys 1177600 Feb 4 08:52 PHKL_21003.depot
I would call them first to double check what's right for you. You need to put
the patches on a separate depot to enable a single reboot.
