how should i change the hostname of hpux11.11....?

IMHO the best is to use "set_parms" and reboot after the change.

With set_parms


set_parms(1M) set_parms(1M)

NAME
set_parms - set up system hostname, networking, date/time and root
password

# /sbin/set_parms

This will require a reboot, so plan accordingly.

You can change through set_parms utility.

# set_parms hostname

Shalom,

set_parms

edit /etc/rc.config.d/netconf directly.

HP-UX limits hostnames to 8 characters.

The add ons that break this limit are not something I trust.
