How to change the installed Operating Environment

I just received a new rp5670 that was ordered with HP-UX 11i v2 Enterprise Operating Environment but was incorrectly pre-installed with Technical Computing OE. Can I migrate from Technical Computing OE to Enterprise OE? Or is cold install of Enterprise OE required??

I would reinstall from scratch. I generally do anyway. Very rarely does HP size the LVOLs to my liking.

Re: How to change the installed Operating Environment

Jeff,

I know that you could install (with codewords) the additional products to bring you up to the equivalent of an Enterprise OE. By extension, I would think that selecting and installing the EOE would function in the same way, skipping those products that were already installed and adding those not installed.

Jeff,

I think it would be possible to install the extra software ( codewords protected ) but in the end you will be faster reinstalling from scratch.

Re: How to change the installed Operating Environment

Hi,

You can upgrade from one OE to other OE using 'update-ux' command

Mount the Enterprize OE CD at /cdrom

update-ux -s /cdrom -y HPUX11i-OE-Ent

If swlist shows both the versions, then remove the Technical OE using 'swremove' command

Re: How to change the installed Operating Environment

I plan on using update-ux to update from the pre-installed TCOE to the OE-MC (Mission Critical).

The install doc lists the update command pretty clearly. What is not clear however, is if the patch bundles must be reapplied. Any advice?

Thanks,
