Re: machinfo

Looks like it is (or should be) a part of the HP-UX operating system on Itaniums (HP-UX 11.2x).

It does not exist on PA-RISC-only versions of HP-UX (11.11 and below).

Googling for "machinfo" produces mostly documentation for GNU Mach OS kernel. I believe that if machinfo does not come included with your OS version, you're out of luck.

It seems to me that the STM diagnostics (xstm or mstm) would tell you the same kind of information (and probably more) on PA-RISC that machinfo would on Itanium.

Re: machinfo

machinfo command will be available on hp-ux release of 11.20 above series there.

http://www.faqs.org/faqs/hp/hpux-faq/section-296.html

you can use dmesg , uname, model, getconf commands get those.

You can use sysinfo script to get system informations there.

Re: machinfo

Hi,

machinfo is bundled in OS-Core.USRCONTRB
on HP-UX 11.23 (Itanium) you can find it in

/usr/contrib/bin/machinfo

Re: machinfo

I would like to found the source code of the "machinfo" and compile this.

Thanks in advance.

Re: machinfo

Claudio,

the machinfo tool is designed for Itaniums only. Just checked the source and it's indeed not portable to PA without re-writing parts of it. Even on 11.23PI there's no PA version included.

Best regards...

Re: machinfo

You can also use

/opt/ignite/bin/print_manifest

to get a lot of information.

Re: machinfo

Thanks to all for your help. I consider that the answer of Dieter and Harry is definitively the end of this thread.

This was my first thread and i hope not the last. It is very useful.

Re: machinfo

I was looking for the source code for machinfo and Dieter write that there is no soruce code for PA-RISC.
