Problem: Some recommended patches are missing (see above).
Recommendation: You may actually have installed patches which have obsoleted these, in which case you can successfully continue with the install. If you have not, it is recommended that you do not continue. Refer to the readme to find out how to get the missing patches.

Problem: The kernel parameters do not meet the minimum requirements (see above).
Recommendation: Perform operating system specific instructions to update the kernel parameters.

Please let me know how can i change the kernel parameters:
I am doing:
sam> kernal configuration> configurable parameters >
then i used "space" to select any parameter and the "action" , then "modify configurable parameter"
then it shows me the " formula value" & "current value".
I am also facing some problem with the installation of these patches, I had already opened a new thread for it.
Please suggest how can change these kernel parameters value.
Thanks

Re: How to change the kernel parameter
changing Kernelparams are not too difficult.
I general you only have to type in the new value in decimal ( e.g. 100000 ) or hexadecimal ( 0x186a0 ) or a new formula ( e.g ( "(nkthread + 90212)" ). It is also possible to overwrite formulas with decimal or hexadecimal values. If the "value" a formula then you will see the calculated calue otherwise the formula/value are the same as the current value.
But be careful with the dependencies to other kernel params.
So I hope that helps a bit.

SolutionFrom the command line, I did not like the options in SAM,
- go to /stand/build
- run: system_prep -s system
- make changes to kernel with kmsystem and kmtune ( take a look at man pages if necessary )
- mk_kernel -s ./system
- backup old kernel
cp /stand/system /stand/system.old
cp /stand/vmunix /stand/vmunix.old
cp -R dlkm dlkm.vmunix.old
- kmupdate ( this will schedule the installation of new kernel )
- Reboot
- check to see that paremeters were changed.
Regards,
Jaime.

Re: How to change the kernel parameter
I forgot to tell you that you can use SAM . Thats the way how I am doing kernel changings. So don´t be afraid - it is easy specially with SAM.
Greetings

Re: How to change the kernel parameter
I think its better to change the kernel using SAM. run SAM > Kernel configuration > configurable Paramaters. Select the which ones you woukd like to change. You can use the absolute values. Just remmber a kernel change my need to reboot the server. Plus it looks like the are some Patches you need to install, be sure that they are not super seeded.
Good luck,
sp,

Re: How to change the kernel parameter
Just tab into the value field, remove the formula that is there and put the value you want in its place.

Re: How to change the kernel parameter
sam> kernal configuration> configurable parameters >
then i used "space" to select any parameter and the "action" , then "modify configurable parameter"
then it shows me the " formula value" & "calulated value".
so i am deleting the formula value and giving the new decimal value.
now the status is: ( I want to make it 256)
suppose:
Name Current Value Pending value
max_thread_proc 64 256
now when i exit from kernal configuration, it asks for:
<> create a new kernel now
<> Defer kernel creation until later
<> cancel all kernel modifications
please suggest which options should i choose and what be new options after this and what to select.
Thanks

Re: How to change the kernel parameter
after changing all parameters choose
create new kernel now
it will ask something like:
move kernel into place now
select yes.
then system will reboot...
