How to convert agile DSF to legacy DSF and vice versa in HPUX 11.31
I have few agile DSFs and few legacy DSFs on my server. Some agile DSFs and mapped to legacy DSFs, as follows(ioscan -m dsf). There are some additional agile DSFs which are not mapped to legacy DSFs. I would like to change these DSFs to their corresponding legacy names. Also how to reverse the action.
you can see disk3 and disk14-21 are mapped to corresponding legacy DSFs. But disk22-37 have no corresponding legacy dsf.

Re: How to convert agile DSF to legacy DSF and vice versa in HPUX 11.31
Hi,
The best way is to download and read the manual.www.docs.hp.com/en/MassStorageStack/The_Next_Generation_Mass_Storage_Stack.pdf

What exactly do you mean here? Change the physical devices that you use in your LVM? (or VxVM?)

Re: How to convert agile DSF to legacy DSF and vice versa in HPUX 11.31
For Ex:
spea119 #ioscan -m dsf /dev/rdisk/disk21
Persistent DSF Legacy DSF(s)
========================================
/dev/rdisk/disk21 /dev/rdsk/c1t7d7
spea119 #ioscan -m dsf /dev/rdisk/disk22
spea119 #
I would like to create an equivalent legacy DSF for /dev/rdisk/disk21
Probably 'mksf' cmd may help, not sure how to do.

Re: How to convert agile DSF to legacy DSF and vice versa in HPUX 11.31
Bonjour,
I am a bit surprised by the value 255 found in legacy hardware path like 0/4/1/0.1.0.255.0.7.1 and I wonder if you have correctly configured your EMC Storage.
See those thread that are speaking of SPC-2 flag at EMC side :http://forums.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1302100http://forums.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1189461http://forums.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1170752

Re: How to convert agile DSF to legacy DSF and vice versa in HPUX 11.31
"symmask -sid 072 set hba_flags on SPC2 -enable -wwn 5001438001321214 -dir 15C -p 1"
I am sure there is something wrong with symm configuration. if you notice the cmd output of "ioscan -m hwpath" ( attached file before), we can see "Legacy H/W Path" for few devices and also it contains something like "0/4/1/0.1.0.255.0.7.1", the no "255" looks incorrect.
Please advice any solution.
Thanks,
-Santosh.

Re: How to convert agile DSF to legacy DSF and vice versa in HPUX 11.31
Why not just ask EMC to check your configuration? They're usually pretrty good at this sort of request.
