How to create ignite image from DVD ?

Hello All,

I would like to create Ignite images from DVD. Is it possible to do ? If yes, Can you please specify the steps to follow? I want to do this for 11.23 and 11.11.

Hi Arun,

We asked HP this question last year, and at that point in time it was not prossible to create a bootable DVD for HPUX.
But that was last year, may be an HP rep. can help you. I am verry interested in the solution if there is one. Could you post it if found?

You can copy the depot from the DVD to the ignite server using swcopy, or copying the files and then using swreg to register the depot.

afterwards get into the ignite gui, choose server setup, there you will have to choose IP's, configure DHCP (if u need it), and then choose to use installed depot.

The ignite will check the depot and register it as an installation depot.

When u install a new server u will have an option to choose this depot.

A bootable DVD is possible with hp-ux, see the instl_combine manpage.

I don't know if the 11.23 version works the same as 11.11
