How to Extract files from make_tape_recovery backup

My /etc/passwd file has gone missing after a reboot from a hung server.. What's the procedure to restore files from a make_tape_recovery tape?

Nelson,

If you looked the man page of make_tape_recovery, the solution is there.
It can take a long time.

mt -f /dev/rmt/0mn fsf 1
tar xvf /dev/rmt/0m etc/passwd

Note that / is missing from /etc/passwd as make_tape_recovery does a backup relative to the path /.
