How to get rdist to tunnel using ssh on HPUX 11.11

The HP porting center does not have a depot build of rdist 6.10+ available for HPUX 11.11. The native rdist on HPUX 11.11 is based on 4.3 and does not support usage of "-P" option to tunnel with ssh.

Tried using the 6.15 rdist depot built for HPUX 10.20 and got not-unexpected errors on 11.11.

Is there a depot binary build of a newer rdist somewhere for HPUX 11.11? Or is there a syntax solution using ssh to build a tunnel for older rdist operation? Google searches keep referring to building rdist with appropriate options from source distributions.

Cannot get source distributions of 6.15 or 7.00 to compile - too many errors. Noticed that others have put in requests to HP circa 2005 for a supporting ~newer rdist with no responses.

Did not get a reply, but I found the source
on the net ( http://www.magnicomp.com/rdist/ ).
I ended up compiling it on a 11.11 box and putting it in /usr/local/bin so as not to overwrite existing version. Then I had to link the rdistd so that it matched the location on my RHEL boxes. Then I added a "-p" and "-P" switches. I also had to tweak the package config file for the sync.

I have opened a ticket with HP regarding the suitability of newer rdist release built on 10.20 being used on 11.11, 11.23. They were able to validate the 10.20 build version on both 11.11 and 11.23 (PA-RISC only). So that is the way we are going. When I tried to compile from the magnicomp source things blew up.

HP support also indicated they ~may release newer rdist depot set built specifically for 11.31. Doubtful for 11.11 and 11.23 as those OS versions due to their age.

Using a newer version of rdist built against HPUX 10.20 on 11.11. Fingers crossed, in particular for 11.23 onward.
