How to install hp-ux from a tape?

Hi All,
Does anyone has this kind of experience? We have a HP SureStore DAT8, and want to install hp-ux on Itanium 4-way machine, could anyone help?

Hi,

Similar to install from CD.
1. interrupt boot by press any key within 10 sec then it show this message on display.
2. in boot admin menu type search
3. boot from tape the entry with sequential access. (disk and CD-ROM entry would be Random access).

then it will goto install process like install from CD.

Hi,

I think you'll have to install 11i ver 1.5 on this system. The Os media comes on DVD, so you need a DVD drive on this system to install hp ux (11i version 1.5).

hi tang,
if the method of printaporn does not work, are you sure that your tape is a 'bootable' tape?

You should be able to boot the tape as you would a CD-ROM.
If you can get to an ISL> on the tape drive, you can try:
hpux (;0)INSTALL

If you can't boot the tape at all, you might want to make sure it a bootable HP-UX install tape.

If I am right then 11i for itanium box is different then other 11i. It comes on DVD media as sanjay says.

The hp-ux version I am trying is 11i 1.6. And the tape machine I am using is HP SureStore DAT8 on Itanium rx4610, while things seem not working...
