how to install tape drive
Hello
i have rp8420 server it is dividing to 4 npartitions, by using ioscan -funC tape command on each partition, i am find the some partition a tape drive it is installed and another no(the output of ioscan -funC tape to these server nothing).
how to install the tape drive into this partition.
by using the mksf command
if that true how

Hi Nejad,
You don't need to run mksf command.
Check in rp 8420 how many scsi cards are installed and how they are confiugred in the 4 partations then identify the partation where you need to install the tape drive connect the tape drive
run ioscan -fnCtape
then insf
and check.

I think maybe you misunderstood some concepts
"mksf" is used to create device file,but it seems like not a problem of device file but about "tape driver module".
So First of all check the connection between your machine and tape driver.
second of all you should check if the "stape" tape driver is configured into your kernel by run "kcweb -t" and select "module configuration" (assuming you use a scsi tape driver)
if not,please add it(it'll require a reboot).
Then run "ioscan -funCtape" and maybe this time you'll see it

it is kernal congiguration issue. I have faced the similar issue. Our collegue has mentioned the procedure or Alternatively use sam to recofigure the kernal.
