how to install the HP color laser jet printer

Hi,
I have some queries regarding installation of HP 4500 N color laserjet printer which should be connected to HP9000 worksation having an HP-UX ver 10.20. Please guide me what are the steps to be followed for installing this printer to work properly.?

Hi,

you could dot it all by SAM:
SAM -> Printers and Plotters -> LP Spooler -> Printers and Plotters -> Actions ->
Add local Printer/Plotter -> Add Parallel Printer/Plotter:
Select the 'Built-in Parallel Interface' -> OK
Printer Name: Enter the name of the queue name (ie: hp4500)
Printer Model/Interface: colorlaserjet
Printer Class: (usually not needed)
OK

You can the test printing ie. eith: lp -dhp4500 /etc/copyright

Hi,

in case you have a JetDirect card in your printer (network access) you could add the printer with jetadmin. If you haven't this software you can download it here:
http://www.hp.com/cposupport/swindexes/hpjetadmin1875_swen.html
When you doing so you get a SD-depot (HP10d621.SD or HP11d621.SD) which you can install with ie: swinstall -s /tmp/HP10d621.SD
After that you can install printer with SAM:
SAM -> Printers and Plotters -> LP Spooler -> Printers and Plotters -> Actions ->
Add a network based printer/plotter.
Of course you have to config the JetDirect card with a valid IP-Adress.
