Re: how to know the points??

I had well over a 100 points when I put out a plea for someone to give me my first point, because I didn't know how to check.

Keep posting answers and if they are for my questions, your point total will rise Rajesh.

Re: how to know the points??

Rajesh,

Now that you know how to check on your points, you may also want to take a few minutes to learn a few more things about your public user profile.

If you look at the line right above you point total you will see a printed line that states ???This member has assigned points to 8 of 30 responses to his/her questions???. This is a way for you to keep track of how well you are giving out points to the people that are assisting you as well.

Now that you have started to appreciate points that others give you, then perhaps it is time for you to try to keep your point assignments up to a 100% (at this time, you are running at 12.5%).

The easiest way to keep up with the answers you have assigned points to and the ones you haven???t is by clicking on the link in the line I quoted above (it???s actually the ???his/her questions??? part of the sentence). That link will take you to a list of all of the threads that you have started and you can then review them for answers that you haven???t assigned points to. Of course, the easiest way to keep your assignment percentage up is to make sure that you assign points to every answer as they come but since you haven???t been doing that up until now, there will be a bit of ???house cleaning??? to do to catch up.

I know that the point assignment thing isn???t a requirement here, but it is a simple way to show people that you appreciate their time.

It???s one of the ways that we tell each other ???Thanks for trying to help me??? in this forum.

Just food for thought???

John - well said.

Rajesh, you might also want to look at this doc:

Though unofficial - a lot of us like it.
