How to produce summary report out of ethereal data?
Hi,
I just started looking into Ethereal for capturing network statistics. This tool look great on its capturing ability but seem like there isn't any report tools that came with it for showing/producing summary information on the following areas,
top sender/receiver within the catpure period
top used protocols
network history diagram
Have I missed anything? or it is true that capturing raw data is all this tool does?
If you know of other tools that should work in conjunction with ethereal please shed me some light on this too.
Thanks in advance
Philip

Re: How to produce summary report out of ethereal data?
Hi,
I am not aware of Etherreal but I can suggest you another tool from Sniffer Technologies.Yuo can download a trial 14 day eval. version from the net and try out.The name of the tool is
packetboy/ etherboy/ netboy. It works on Windows 95 and you can use it for whole network.I had successfully used it in NT,Open VMS and HP UX 11.0 environment.I was more than satisfied after using a trial version.
Regards,
Jaimin Parikh

Re: How to produce summary report out of ethereal data?
I know of other tools that would do what I mentioned too. Reason I asked the question was because I seem a few posts in this forum area recommending Ethereal so I just wanted to see how good it is and why people praise for such free tool.
