Re: how to share a folder linux to linux without samba
Your dba needs to define 'share'.
Without using a network file sharing protocol, you are limited to copying all the files and directories to the remote server. If changes are made, then the files must be copied back to the local server. Repeat this over and over again, and then you'll have file sharing without using NFS or CIFS/SAMBA.
If networking is not allowed, then you can burn CDs and send them back and forth.
No CD burner? Then use tape to send the files back and forth.

Re: how to share a folder linux to linux without samba
How about CIFS?
https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B8725AA
The question is:
Why not SAMBA, NFS or CIFS?
Any good reason for this???
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: how to share a folder linux to linux without samba
Each OS I'm aware of need this.
So you can assure the correct byte order, access management, prevent data corruption due to filesystem cache etc ...
There is a broad choice of protocols, but using a "common" protocol assures interoperability between different operating systems.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
