Re: how to use mstm

You can man mstm (or stm) for information or go to this link:

http://docs.hp.com/cgi-bin/otsearch/getfile?id=/hpux/onlinedocs/diag/stm/stt_mmap.htm&searchterms=mstm&queryid=20020221-225912

Hope this helps.
Kenny.

Re: how to use mstm

Well,
the only one you'll be able to run without entering a hp restricted password is more or less the
un/select device with space
(one at a time)
tools > info > run

then
tools > logs > latest logs > activity log

The hp only password is for running things like PDC firmware upgrades and memory pattern tests etc.. that require expert knowledge.

Use xstm (if you've got xwindows connectivity) for a more intuitive interface.
You can use the mouse to select the h/w icon, right click info, etc..

Re: how to use mstm

If I remember correctly to use the stm , mstm or xstm you need to install ODE from the diagnostics CD first. Then you will see the man pages.

You should be able to get all the latest s/w necessary from:

Re: how to use mstm

Hi,

What I like most about mstm is its Exercise tool allowing me to run tests on the hardware components to verify their health.

The other thing I like is its command-line equivalent called cstm which allows you to interface with a script so that you can test specific hardware (eg. read test on harddisks) in a say weekly or monthly cron job.

Hope this helps. Regards.
