Re: Howto delete some tape instances on 11.11 PArisc
What's the problem?
The devices are CLAIMED and ready to use.
Anyway, if you want to delete the device files, try for example
# rmsf -H 0/0/10/0/0.5.112.255.0.0.0
They will be re-created on next boot ...
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Howto delete some tape instances on 11.11 PArisc
# rmsf -H 0/0/10/0/0.5.112.255.0.0.0
I have deleted instance 39
# ioscan -M atdd -H 0/0/10/0/0.5.112.255.0.0.0 -I 1
ioscan: libIO error from io_insert_node: Node already exists or parameter error detected.
I can not rename the instance 39 to instance 1, because instance 1 already exist. I would like to know how to delete instance 1 without reboot.
# ioscan -M atdd -H 0/0/10/0/0.5.112.255.0.0.0 -I 39
I have no problem putting it back onto instance 39.

Re: Howto delete some tape instances on 11.11 PArisc
Are you trying to get your tapes so that they are in sequential order for the instance numbers?
I don't think there is an easy way to do that without rebooting and editing the /etc/ioconfig file.
Have a read through this document for details:
