Hp K380 hard disk failure notification by SNMP
Hi,
We have on HP K380 running HP-UX 10.2. Two external storage boxes were attached to the server. The disk system was configured with VG group and mirrorring set up.
Try to configure the system with SNMP agent so that a disk failure within the vg group could trigger a trap to SNMP management system.
Question:
0. Is snmp agent in HP-UX 10.2 is able to report such failure to SNMP management system? Is there any special package I should install?
If so,
1. Besides configuring "community name" and "trap dest" in snmpd.conf, what other configuration tasks I should do at this machine?
2. At SNMP management system, do I need to load mib from HP-UX? ( I believe so.) Is there a mib just for HP-UX 10.2? How could I get it?
3. If there is a disk failure in my K380 server, what I should be able to see at my SNMP management system?
Thank you

Re: Hp K380 hard disk failure notification by SNMP
Using EMS (Event Monitoring System) you can do this.
take a look at the documents at:

Re: Hp K380 hard disk failure notification by SNMP
Thanks.
Questions:
Is the LVM (Logical Volume Manager) able to detect such failure and send a trap ?
Thank you

Re: Hp K380 hard disk failure notification by SNMP
To my knowledge, LVM itself is not capable of doing this, hence the use of EMS and it's monitoring capabilities
