Hi All,
Question about my HP server. I have two but only one monitor and keyboard for both. Can I unplug the monitor and keyboard from one server while running with out it locking up? This server is servicing about 20 terminals/people. I am running HP 10.2. Also can I plug it back in with out powering down the server and have it still work?
I know there are other ways to work with only one monitor, but I need a specific answer to this question.
Thanks,
Phil

Solution
Hi,
this system is a series 700 (workstation) with a graphical console. The graphical interface will sense if a mouse device is present and will complain if this is missing.
If you connect at least a mouse (and keyboard) to each system, you can connect the monitor whereever you want. Just plug it into the system where you need it.
BTW, if you have a X-server running on another system (e.g. PC with linux), you can redirect the graphical output to this client, so you don't need to use the console.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP server 9000/778/B180L hardware issue
Phil,
Can I plug it back in with out powering down :
Yes, you can plug it back without powering down, sensing monitor is not at all a problem, you can connect anywehre, and keyboard also works fine , but some times mouse doesnot gets initialise, also sometime keyboardd as well, if you are not using VUE (Graphical Interface), not a problem with the mouse, Hence hope fully keyboard and monitor will work fine on the other B180,
Cheers,
Raj.
