HP/UX 10.20 dial into ISP

I have question. I have Netscape 4.7 for HP/UX 10.20 loaded on a B132 workstation. I also have a 33.6 modem on the second COM port.

What other software if any is needed to establish a connection between the B132 and an ISP provider? By the way the ISP provides IP information via DHCP to the caller.

The end result is to be able to have the B132 dial up an ISP and use Netscape to go on the Internet.

Or, would it be better to use something like the 3COM net connect device (mini hub, V.90 modem, NAT translator, dial on demand) all in one unit and let it make the connection and have the HP Unix workstation be assigned a 196..... IP address?

Thanks for any help...

Hi Ken:

You need PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) but it is not available until 11x. You can upgrade to 11.0 and install PPP or you can use SLIP (Serial Line Internet Protocol) which is available for 10.20.

I actually prefer your plan B; that is the method I use - I actually use a dedicated Multitech RAS server but the concept is the same.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
