I have 2 iso (windows server 2003 64bit) files and I boot from SAN.
Have created a lun sufficiently large and swapspace also: /dev/dsk/c6t0d4.
hpvmcreate -P Win2k3_VM -O Windows -c 1 -r 5G -a disk:scsi::disk:/dev/rdsk/c0t0d4 -a dvd:scsi::file:/var/win_is/iso_1
When I do: hpvmconsole -P Win2k3_VM -fi -c "pc -on"
It goes to the EFI and gives only these options:
blk0 : Acpi(PNP0A03,0)/Pci(0|0)/Scsi(Pun0,Lun0)
blk1 : Acpi(PNP0A03,0)/Pci(0|0)/Scsi(Pun1,Lun0)
Is my syntax correct for creating the VM - using "dvd:scsi::file/" etc?
How do I install the OS?

w2k installation is done from sac console . you should look at sac documents.

And you have definitley got Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition 64 bit SP1?
How did you get the media onto the server?
You should see fs0: and it should show it as a cdrom

I didnt paste the correct info by accident:
In the EFI shell i have:
blk0 : Acpi(PNP0A03,0)/Pci(0|0)/Scsi(Pun0,Lun0)
blk1 : Acpi(PNP0A03,0)/Pci(0|0)/Scsi(Pun1,Lun0)
blk2 : Acpi(PNP0A03,0)/Pci(0|0)/Scsi(Pun1,Lun0)/CDROM(Entry0)
I have 2 iso files for the Windows 2k3 OS. Should I specify both when creating the VM?

Otherwise you need to tell the installer something like "now take the second drive to proceed ..." ;-)
Looks like the image is loaded.
How did you create the image?
Maybe it is not bootable?

If you are looking to setup a directory with the two ISO files in, then this should read:
dvd:scsi::null:/var/win_is/iso_1
assuming iso_1 is the directory.
I am also intrigued that the OS is two iso files, I only ever have one.
Also, what does the output of:
hpvmstatus -P Win2k3_VM -v show?

If you follow the manual steps, there should be no problem.
I usually copy the ISO image from my lqaptop to the HOST using ftp in binary mode.

Solutionx86-, x64- and ia64 images. You need the ia64 image!

Well spotted that man!
Yes, you MUST usethe ia64 bits, the others will not work, and that goes back to my comment earlier around being supplied the incorrect media (it was 32 bit x86)
