I have a problem, when i add an additionnal lan card on my workstation on HP-Ux ii1 the new lan card is on "claimed" status but the original lan card was on lan0 and now the original is on lan1 and the additionnal lan card is on lan0 ...
And i must have the original lan card on lan0.

Re: HP-Ux 11i additionnal lan card problem
Any other steps done?
Consider to adjust the netconf to assign the IP to lan1 now.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP-Ux 11i additionnal lan card problem
But why not adjust the netconf file to use lan1 instead of lan0 now?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP-Ux 11i additionnal lan card problem
If you have a NIC let's say on H/W path
1/0/0 NIC1
as lan0 and you install another NIC at
0/0/0 NIC2
NIC1 remains as lan0 and NIC2 became lan1.
But if you do a new installation (such as ignite) the order will change:
NIC2 becomes lan0
NIC1 becomes lan1
based on the H/W path.
So better to not try any "reorder" or something, but adjust your IP configuration to this "new" hardware setup, so it works after each ignite restore.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

SolutionThere are many related threads like this
http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/System-Administration/ioinit-can-t-change-lan-instance-number/m-p/4337160#M343012
but I would NOT do this!
Why not just configure netconf???
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
