HP-UX 11i and BMC monitoring tool
I am running BMC Perform and Collect on my rp7410 server and the query agent, bgscollect, is consuming 20 x the CPU that it has been for the last 11 months. Has anyone had any experience with this product and this specific problem?

Re: HP-UX 11i and BMC monitoring tool
We have a different BMC product, patrol, running on a couple of our systems, and see similar behavior. It runs as a nice value of 20, yet usually consumes 10-20% CPU and at times up to 40%. I think it just grabs whatever cpu is avalable to it, and if that was the only process runnning on the system it would always have 90%+ of the CPU.

Re: HP-UX 11i and BMC monitoring tool
Be sure you have the recent updates to BMC Perform. BMC Patrol (and Perform/Predict) is continously being improved by BMC -- however, it seems that Solaris and Linux are their bread and butter.

Re: HP-UX 11i and BMC monitoring tool
Hi
We are also running a BMC product the Patrol sometimes this also takes a lot of CPU (run away process) this seems to have improved in their latest version Patrol 3.5 version which are planning to implement on all our servers here. The runaway process taking a lof of the cpu time has happened many times but not always.
