Re: Hp-UX 11iv2 installation problem in rx8640
The error is directly mentioned in this Intel document.
http://stuff.mit.edu/afs/sipb/contrib/doc/EFI/EFISpec_v102.pdf
Why its on MIT's server I can't answer.
I'd say based on a quick scan of the document that EFI configuration requires an update.

SolutionThe solution was to install new EFI firmware. The problem was caused by an issue with the SCSI U320 driver.
Both the "EFI Boot Services Driver for U320 SCSI controller" and "U320 SCSI Firmware for A7173A and AB290A adapters" firmware should be updated. They are available on the ITRC.

Re: Hp-UX 11iv2 installation problem in rx8640
Thank you providing us install doc URL site.
I have gone through below installation proceeded:
â Download The Files - Download the firmware image file and update utility from HP web site http://www.hp.com under "Driver Downloads" (or "Support and Drivers") section. Expand (Unzip) as necessary.
Copy Files To EFI Partition - Determine the character- special device file for the EFI partition on your disk. Type â ioscan -fknC disk". The file will be /dev/rdsk/*s1. If there are more than one such file, check "bdf" output for the name of the disk containing the directory "/". For more information, type "man vgdisplay" and "man 4 efi". Copy all the downloaded files to the EFI partition using efi_cp. For information on how to use the efi_cp command type "man efi_cp"
Enter EFI Shell - Type "/usr/sbin/shutdown -ry now" to reboot the system to "EFI Boot Manager". When the "EFI Boot Manager" menu appears, use the arrow keys to highlight the entry "EFI Shell", then press the Enter key to select it. The "Device mapping table" will be displayed. The selection must be made within the timeout period displayed on the screen.
Locate The Files Under EFI Shell - Enter "fsx:" and press the Enter key. "x" is from the "Device mapping table".
Update Firmware From EFI Shell - Proceed to "Updating Firmware from EFI shell" section, shown below.â
BTW, I have before informed you I can not properly boot my system, because when I try to boot my system. System automatically Reboot.
So, I can not apply above proceed. First I stable my system then I will try to this way.
Please guide me ......
Thanks--Yaqub

Re: Hp-UX 11iv2 installation problem in rx8640
then you need to download iso images and write it to a cd and boot the machine. and fallow the procedure in step 3 .
3. Using a HP IPF Offline Diagnostics and Utilities CD.
Note: You can download the ISO image of the CD from HP web
site http://www.hp.com under "Driver Downloads" (or "Support
and Drivers") section.
Insert CD - Insert a HP "IPF Offline Diagnostics and
Utilities" CD if a DVD-ROM or CD-ROM drive is attached.
Boot From CD or Enter EFI Shell - Type "/usr/sbin/shutdown
-ry now" to reboot the system to "EFI Boot Manager". When
the "EFI Boot Manager" menu appears, use the arrow keys to
highlight the entry "Internal Bootable DVD" or "EFI Shell",
then press the Enter key to select it. The selection must be
made within the timeout period displayed on the screen.
a. If "Internal Bootable DVD" is selected, select "I/O Cards
FW Update and Configuration Utilities, MCA Menu", then
select "Ultra160 SCSI firmware flash utility".
or
b. If "EFI Shell" is selected, The "Device mapping table"
will be displayed. If the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive is mapped
to fs0, type "fs0:", press the Enter key. Type "cd
\efi\hp\tools\io_cards\u320_scsi", press ENTER.
Update Firmware From EFI Shell - Proceed to "Updating
Firmware from EFI shell" section, shown below.

Re: Hp-UX 11iv2 installation problem in rx8640
Then if you can go back to 11.31 you could try it there?
Otherwise you need to follow the alternate instructions:
3. Using a HP IPF Offline Diagnostics and Utilities CD.
I assume you get it from:
http://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=IPF0712
(I assume that the Dec CD contains the Sept SCSI patch.)
To download, you read:
To download an <release>.zip file, complete the following procedure:

Re: Hp-UX 11iv2 installation problem in rx8640
Hello
Goodbye
Peace
In Hebrew.
I normally try to begin all of my posts with this word and intend to use all three meetings.
From what I gather by reading that Intel paper, EFI is Intel's way of setting up the system to boot the OS.
Its either a setup issue with EFI or the firmware version required to support 11.31 is not compatible with 11.23
I would see that firmware for your system is fully up to date. For 11.23.
