HP-UX Administration of New Posix User Created in NDS

I am using LDAP-UX Client Services on several
HP-UX 11i nodes to interact with NDS 4.11 on
a Sun Solaris server. When I create a new user
with Posix attributes, I must enter values for
uid, gid, and homedirectory. Are there any tools to help me create the actual home directory on the HP machine automatically when the user is added, or would the HP system admin be forced to perform this task separately? Is there any mechanism to ensure that the uid is unique?

I haven't been able to find any documentation to address these types of issues, so I would also appreciate it if anyone could point me to any such documentation that might exist.
