HP-UX Cold Install and Omniback 3.5 Cell Manager Install

Hi!
I am going to upgrade a K570 box that houses the Omniback Cell Manager. Can somebody please provide me with the detailed steps. Here is what I envisage, is anything missing?

1. Export the Omniback database (Omnidbutil -writeascii....)
2. Make a fbackup of the /etc/opt/omni, /var/opt/omni and /opt/omni directories
3. Make a ignite image of the server (the server is running HP-UX 11.0 32 bit).
4. Cold Install HP-UX 11.0 64-bit
5. Install Omniback 3.5 Software w/ licenses.
6. Apply latest patch bundle and Omniback patches (3.5)
7. Shutdown Omniback Services
8. Move the /etc/opt/omni, /var/opt/omni and /opt/omni directories some place and replace them with the archived ones.
9. Startup Omniback services.

Please let me know if I am missing something and if this will work.
Thanks.

That will work just fine BUT be warned that some of the tape device nodes may change; i.e. what was /dev/rmt/2mnb may now be /dev/rmt/1mnb. It depends upon whether hardware was added to the old OS ands in what order. It's easy to reassign these later but just be aware that it might happen.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Clay,
Thanks. Just wanted to confirm something with you - do I have to swremove Omniback patches and Omnniback software and make another fbackup of the /etc/opt/omni, /var/opt/omni and /opt/omni directories?

Will the other fbackup/frestore work despite the fact that it has OB2 32-bit software and patches?

Thanks.
Geetha.

Because you are doing a cold install there is no need to do a swremove. The database files will work just fine in a 64-bit world.

I did miss one thing in your prior post. You do not want to restore /opt/omni -- just /etc/opt/omni and /var/opt/omni. The patches will take care of you in /opt/omni.

It is imperative that you install exactly the same OB2 patches in the new OS that you had in the old. I've even used exactly the same /etc/opt/omni and /var/opt/omni's from a 10.20 3.50 Cell Server upgraded to 64-bit 11.11 OB2 3.50 and that worked perfectly but I was very careful to install all the equivalent patches between 10.20 3.50 and 11.x 3.50.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
