I just installed 11.0 on a G40 and neither (there are 2) 10MB lan adapter (part J2146A) will not provide power to the AUI tranciever...?? Could anybody tell me why?
The OS thinks they are just fine!

Re: HP-UX on a G40
There are a lot of little dip switches on the Transceiver. If one of them is in the wrong position or been moved to the middle of on/off by accident you'll get this result. Check to make sure they are all set correctly.
On my 28685B EtherTwist Transceiver I have the
following set:
SQE test off
Link Beat on
Loopback test off
Long Cable on
Also These things have been known to go out. Have you checked to see if the unit is ok?
Good luck..
Brian.

Solution
The lan card on a G40 is not auto-sensing. I presume that you did not have the systems plugged into the lan via the AUI port previously. I'm also guessing that there is a BNC connector on the lan cards.
If the above is true, then the problem is most likely, that the jumper on the G40 is set to INT tranceiver. This would be the BNC port.
To correct, you will need to shutdown and power down the system. Pull the lan card from the system. Look for a double row of jumpers that states INT on one side and EXT on the other side. I belive that this is a block of 4 pins. Move the jumper block from the INT side to the EXT side. Re-install the card, and then power-on and boot the system.
If this is the issue, once the jumper is switched then you should be able to attach the external Tranceiver and connect to the network.
