HP-UX on Visualize 3000 boot device

I had posted here once before and you folks did a great job. So here we go again.

When the machine starts up it can not find the boot device. I tell it to search and it finds the CR-ROM and the Hard Drive. I type in bo p1 and it boots fine.
Why wont the workstation boot by itself?

Re: HP-UX on Visualize 3000 boot device

Hi Jason:

Use 'setboot' to establish the boot path and to enable "autoboot". For example:

# setboot -p 10/0.6.0 -b on

Re: HP-UX on Visualize 3000 boot device

Hi Jason:

From the boot console menu, set the primary and alternate PATH. You can set it from the menu. Once set, the next time it will automatically boot from that device.

Re: HP-UX on Visualize 3000 boot device

Hi Jason,

Check if the autoboot and autosearch is set to on. Also make sure the primary boot path is set to the boot disk.

Here is a small link,

Hope this helps.

Re: HP-UX on Visualize 3000 boot device

Hi Jason:

Again, check whether the AUTOBOOT option. Make it enable "YES".

Re: HP-UX on Visualize 3000 boot device

Yep, the above answer will fix your solution.

This happened to me once when an HP Tech swapped out my system board, and didn't set the autoboot flag before leaving.
