HP-UX Performance Monitoring
Hello, I am running VVOS 3.5 on a K9000 700 series server. There are 2x 200Mhz
CPUs with 512MB RAM and 9Gig Hard drives. What I would like to know is the
following:
How do I guage the RAM utilization?
How do I guage the CPU Utilization?
How do I guage the Read/Write access to my HDD?
I know I can guage network utilization by using netstat, so what I am looking
for is similar tools that will help me guage the mentioned areas.
Thank you very much for your time.
Sincerely,
Shahab Razak

Re: HP-UX Performance Monitoring
Yes that is true with vmstat, sar & etc. There is a whole chapter on
Performance monitoring in Sam's "UNIX Unleashed.
The tool I really like is HP's Measureware Software which includes GPM
(Glanceplus) & others. See your Application disks for a copy or contact your
HP Representative.
Try the mwademo. It has some really nifty data output for plotting in a
spreadsheet like Microsoft's Excel. The Network log file will even do number
of packets and collisions.

Re: HP-UX Performance Monitoring
Glance plus is probably one of the best tools you could use in terms of getting
a very good overall picture. But the nicest quick and free utility is top,
this gives a overall indication of machine/proc's stats in an instant.
